Wings of Glory 1.1.0 Update

2022-08-11

Wings of Glory’s 1.1.0 update adds new map sizes to the game creation options, and also contains several fixes to bugs reported by the community. New Features: • Additional map sizes! We’ve implemented a game creation option which allows players to play with larger maps. Players can now choose from Normal, Bigger (increases map dimensions by 50%), and Huge (increases map dimensions by 100%) . The “Bigger” map is noticeably larger but still allows for a fairly fast-paced and tight game, just with a bit more room to maneuver. The “Huge” map opens up some new strategic possibilities, especially for planes with high speed but low maneuverability, and leads to a slower-paced game. Bug Fixes: • Fixed an issue where chat window was too big on some devices. • Fixed an issue where chat button & window did not always display on the end of game screen.

-> Barebones game: - only one map background (as opposed to 3 in the tabletop) - 8 planes (as opposed to like 20 in the tabletop) - no campaign -> Distances and angles are much harder to estimate than in the tabletop causing the player to fly off the needlessly tiny battlemap constantly resulting in the loss of the game. (an option to overlay the movement cards (even just one at a time) directly 1:1 on the battlemap...

The game itself is well made. But it simply lacks content! There are only a few aircraft, no campaign at all, and a relatively small map.

This is a fairly decent translation of the WW-1 table top miniatures aerial dogfight game. Although this version is entertaining enough, WoG only offers very limited game play. Despite the fact that the board game sells over thirty-five different miniature aircraft, this digitized version only comes with a handful of aircraft types (Fokker Dr.1, Fokker D.VII, Albatross D.Va, Roland C.2, Sopwith Camel, Sopwith Snipe,...
