I don't get why this game is getting so much hate. It's just like XCOM. Some missions can be frustrating but once to loose it you can just replay it. Which is a lot more forgiving than XCOM. I would give it a out a 7 or 8 out of 10.

Gears Tactics was fun and this being my first XCOM like game, the turn-based mixed with the brutal execution style of Gears of War hooked me fast. My big gripe is the story though. it's way too short and stays pretty surface-level the whole way through. I wish I could recommend the game but the choices made by devs really just make it unfun. Very repetitive mandatory side missions, Bare bones customization, instakill mechanics, and very unbalanced gameplay are just a few to name. Some mods do make it better but the modding community for the game is near nonexistent and there is no mod to skip the mind numbing side missions.

Pretty Awesome idea, really. Executed well. Love it so far. Challenging. Good use of the IP. got some deep cuts. Maybe more for fans of the Gears series. Although there is plenty for fans of this kind of turn based strategy, Et al; X-Com and such...

Love the voice acting, the atmosphere, music, SFX, visuals and gameplay. Also the boss battles are crazy fun and hectic too, as they should be! The major downside (in my opinion) and it is rather glaring is that there are no random battles where you can just level up units or respec and try new builds.
