Seriously, just play Dragon Age Origins. This game may have pioneered a lot, but it is a slog fest. My God, the number of the same old dungeons that went on forever with wave after wave of trash was ridiculous. 80% of the rest of the game is just running back and forth. The loot was crap. The quests were okay. The graphics still gold up. The dialogue was lame. This game could easily be condensed in half. TBH...

If you ever wondered, 'what if Dragon Age was made by an European studio with a fraction of the budget?' Drakensang answers that question. At times janky, but very charming and fun. An easy recommendation if you are a fan of tabletop style RPGs like BG, DAO, NW, etc.

Played it on release back then and have good memories about it. IMO it's a pity that there ain't more DSA games like this.

Drakensang (originally released here in Germany in 2008) is a turn-based party RPG using "Germany's D&D" rules, "The Dark Eye", and follows in the footsteps of games like Black Isle/Bioware's Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights 2 - more or less. After playing Drakesang for 57 hours i can pretty much say that it reminded me of old-school RPG legends such a Baldur's Gate. You play the game with a party of four characters and the Real Time with Pause system is the one used during battles. This system allows for more strategic battles and lets you organize your team and the skills to use. The storyline is quite interesting but i felt that it could be presented...

I didn’t just play Drakensang — I grew up in it. Not just a game, but a memory of when RPGs had heart, patience, and way too many inventory tabs.

Surprisingly enjoyable game - After reading some reviews I was just taking a steam sale plunge when I made the purchase, I launched the game to check that I could get it running on Windows 10 (It was fine for me after running it windowed via options in steam) and I then after just casually running around for 30 mins I got completely hooked to the extent that this has been my game of choice over the Xmas holidays...
