I played for 58 hours at the time of this review and beat everything I felt I would get out of the game. I started with FTL- (without the fan made mods) Loved it, then moved onto Void War- a superior product in that aspect. Much of the complaints about this game is that it doesn't excel in One area very well, and more of a mix and blend of a number of other games. It seems people that play this for space fights...

Immersive game, can chill out constructing my ships and can also get challenged by occasional fights. Been fan with Prison Architect, now moved into this gem and 100% recommend

Not really a fleet sandbox — it's a big-ass moving factory I really wanted to like this game, because on the surface it looks exactly like the kind of sandbox I enjoy. You can design ships, build a fleet, mine resources, manufacture components, automate production, trade, use fighters, build specialized combat ships, and move between star systems. Overall not bad. took a bit to get into as some things weren't explained and some bad RNG made intial progress of the Boldly Go campaign take a while but ultimately its a neat little game with a splash of automation mixed in. Part of me thinks they could have gone deeper with the automation but given you can manage multiple ships to go around doing multiple things at once maybe they didn't need to.

Fully functional game, but still receiving updates. Roadmap goes until Dec 2026 so might want to wait until the final version is released for a proper play through.

locking the survival mode behind the main storyline isnt nice, I've played the game before and now I have to again just to try out another mode
