2026-09-21Two months, and most of it went to me doing math. Do you know how much I hate math? I don't really. Math is fine, it was just doing a lot of formulaic adjustment and then going "woah this had consequences!" Do you know how much I hate it when my actions have consequences? Anyway... No more big big big big big, big big big, big updates for a lil while. maybe some big or big big ones. The Hallowed Hunt is aimed to return on October 1st and run the whole month of October... I hope. Yeah. Please don't break the game too badly, we tried to QA as best we could, otherwise we might have Halloween in December... Highlights: Items 2.0 Last update shipped Item Power as something you could read, this update makes it the thing every item is built from. Every Item has changed, priced against a new formula / budget
Read the full notes
Weapons, Abilities, Armors, and Accessories now all have formulas that decide potential based on their IP. For Weapons and Abilities, things such as range, projectile speed, size, angle gap, leeching, homing, aim assist, MP/HP cost, cooldown, and much more all exist as either multipliers or flat Item Power costs against a formula that decides how much output per second it can have relative to the item's base item power. For Armors and Rings, IP-budgets were designed for each slot. Stats, Procs, and other effects all have an adjusted output cost that is scored against that budget. • The budget for Armors is oriented towards the relationship between Armor and Speed, per increase in item power, other stats can be added (or armor can be sacrificed) in return of an increased speed penalty. HP and Vitality are also positively biased in the budget to help Armors become the main equipment piece involved in bulking up a character • The budget for Accessories is oriented towards pretty much everything else. Non Armor/Health/Vitality core stats, ability related perks, output procs, all a bit more budget friendly here than on Armor. Affixes 2.0: +s, -s, and IP-Literality Every affix is now tiered by points. One point is 2 Item Power, and that is true everywhere, on every item. • Each point is displayed as a + directly on the stat it's influencing, color-matched to the affix tier you have. There can also be -s in cases where you are getting a bonus + as a tradeoff. • Tiers describe a literal IP +/- Relationship. Red is -4 IP (two -s), Orange is -2, Green is +2, Blue +4, Pink +6, HATED +8, Event +10. • HATED and Event affixes are now a set % to roll. 7% for HATED and 3% for Events. HATED affix non-natural rolling will however require a duplicate item to the base being used as fuel. • There are MASSIVELY more Affixes, and those affixes can do MASSIVELY more. Especially on Weapons and Abilities. Homing, Life/Mana Leeching, Aim Assist, +/- Range, Reduction in Angle Gap, so much more. At least 20 Affixes per tier per slot type that can be rolled on an item, on average. Since some items are gated in what they can roll (e.g. a bow with 1 projectile can not roll reduced angle gap), all items cannot roll all affixes for their slot. Item Quality: More +s. Every piece of equipment rolls for quality when it is created, for a quality mark. A + is 2 extra IP, ++ is 4. Rarities Per Tier: • Relic: 1 in 3 for a +, 1 in 12 for a ++ • Special, Unique and Event: 1 in 4, and 1 in 16 • Everything else: 1 in 8, and 1 in 64 • Shiny equipment is always ++. Two shinies of the same item differ in what they boost, never in how much. Quality Point +s are directly placed onto item stats the same way Affix ones are, except quality points are individually rollable and not bound to a set combination. They can add budget to any single element an item currently has... and in some cases extend what elements they have: Affixes can also adjust what can roll as a quality point on an item. For example a Basic bow will not normally have life leeching, but rolling an affix that adds it to the item will also allow you to roll additional leeching as a quality. There is NO obligation to keep that affix thereafter, the bow will keep the IP budget allotted to leeching from the quality point if the affix point(s) are removed. Traits. (This is the part worth reading twice, because the two systems look alike and are not.) Affix points and Quality Points are pure Item Power bonuses. They buy a measured amount of something, at a price, out of a budget. Traits are not Item Power literal at all. They are free picks Armors and Rings earn at breakpoints as its Item Power climbs, and they do things the budget has no price for. • Armors and Rings get 1 Trait Point every 10 IP, starting at 15. • Similar to Quality Points, Trait Points can be individually rerolled (and exploited!) • An Item can have a max of 3 individual traits on it at a time. • Individual Traits max out at level 5 (V) • When an Item goes above/below a Trait IP Breakpoint, it will tangibly gain/lose the point as it rolls. Traits can do any number of things, depending on what your focus is. I'm not going to spoil all of them here (and we're not updating the wiki for at least a week or two to add them) but to give some examples: • Proliferation multiplies a stat the item already carries, so its worth depends on that item rather than on a table. Only Armors can roll health, armor, or vitality proliferation. Only Accessories can roll attack, dexterity, or speed proliferation. Each Proliferation point is worth 10% of the base stat, so Attack Proliferation V is +50% of the base attack stat on your new shiny Divine Spirit. • Individual Debuff Resistance reduces incoming rebuffs by a (debuff) level per (trait) level, so Slowed Resistance 2 would negate Slowed 2 from effecting you, and turn Slowed 5 into Slowed 3! • There are two caveats here. Infliction on self is an additional 20% per trait level factor, so you'd require a 5th level trait to negate any self-inflicted debuff consistently • Since we apply Vulnerable as single-level stacks, Vulnerable Resistance instead reduces the amount of additional damage vulnerable does to you per level. • Barrier Overcharge converts overheating to Barrier, on a 10% per level basis • Mana Shield converts 5% of Damage to Mana Damage per level, as long as your Mana Pool can handle it • Weapon Homing adds 7 Degrees of homing arc to your weapon per level • And More :) A good few more! With more coming in the future as new progression elements release! Some UT items may also have Pinned Traits. These are trait points that cannot be rerolled, commonly core to the identity of the item they're on. In some cases, like the Stone Unturned ring, It pins two points of Health Proliferation even though Accessories cannot roll it otherwise. Rerolling 2.0 Rerolling does not automatically overwrite everything about an item any more. It rerolls the parts of one you choose, each priced on its own, all in one transaction that either happens or does not. • Pick what rolls. The affix, any individual quality point, any individual trait pick - tick the ones you want and leave the rest alone. • Prices are dynamic. Affixes cost 30 x the item's base Item Power in silver. A single quality point or trait pick is a 25% of that per. • A duplicate is the best fuel there is. It makes the affix reroll free outright and halves every quality point and trait pick in the same request. Duplicates are also the only way to increase quality of items. • Roll scrolls discount the affix by their own share, from a little to all of it, exactly as they always did. Guaranteeing your upgrade (Respecting your time) When retooling using a duplicate of the SAME quality, every roll has a chance to upgrade the quality of an item - and a bar that fills, so it is guaranteed after a known number of them. Relics need three, specials and uniques and event items four, everything else eight. • A duplicate of a HIGHER quality upgrades it outright. Spending the better copy is usually an accident, and it should never be a total loss. • You can spend a duplicate on the upgrade roll alone, with nothing else ticked, and keep the affix you already fought for. It costs no silver. • In both of the above cases, you can also use duplicate rolling to hold onto any affix that you've already gotten your hands on, just roll without marking the affix. Every section also has a Table button: the full list of everything that item could roll there, resolved for that item. No more yolo-ing to find out what was possible. Friends, Messages, and Your Phone There is a friends list now, and it sends messages. • Conversations are stored. Open a thread and your history is there, with day separators, from whenever you last talked. • Gift items and silver in a message. The item rides along with everything about it intact - affix, traits, quality, upgrade progress. Silver pays the market tax out of the amount you typed, so you are never charged more than the number you entered, and the message says exactly what will arrive. • Unclaimed gifts come back. After a week, nothing sits in a message forever. Push Notifications! using your phone as a Darza Companion App! Never miss an Adelphie raid. If someone messages you, gifts you something, or adds you while you are offline, your phone says so, if you want it to! Ruby Season 3 A new season, running until November 1st, and it asks for three things the systems above just made possible. Since the last seasons were more dedicated to long time investments, we tried to circle back to some mixes of skill and investment this time around. • This is HATED - loot any Special item above 50 IP as a HATED character. • Alone and Unbothered - complete 2 level 37+ dungeons without being hit, on an Isolation character. • Break-Web Pace - complete a solo Infested Cellar in under 30 seconds. Five times. Each one pays 1,000 gold, 10,000 spendable score and two Gold Bars, and clearing all three completes the season. You Can See Further Sight radius is up to 40 tiles now, and how much of it you draw is yours to choose. There's a slider, use it at your own risk (more like your phone's thermal risk) Linger Visual Overhaul + Bloom On OpenGL Blessed, Healing, Fortifying, Enraged and Stealth lingers have been lightly rebuilt. And bloom now works on the OpenGL clients. It was DX-only for its entire existence because of how the bloom map is produced; the GL clients now replay the world pass into it and get the identical result. I can play with 2500 fps on OpenGL with no worries now :D or on my.... MACBOOK. Coming soon. Ok, that should be the big stuff. Now for the other stuff. (Other) Additions • The gem bank is a full-screen menu now: bank, take, consume or crush by the amount you choose. An Isolation bank names itself and blinks purple, because it is yours alone. • Remove Totems from the character screen. Dropping Isolation banks that character's private silver, score and gem bank back into the account rather than deleting them. • The market board filters on quality and traits, not just affix. • Targeted abilities show you where they will land on Controller before they cast - the real landing point, with the range cap and line-of-sight clamp already applied, so the marker cannot lie to you. • Quality marks everywhere they belong: the player card, the HUD equipment row, inventory and backpack, the character screen, the reroll menu and the gem bank. Changes • Tier 3 Pet Tokens have returned, and all of how Pet tokens drop has been overhauled: • Dungeon Bosses drop a specific core stat token each, depending on what their signature gem is. (e.g. Adzul in the River Maze will award you with attack tokens), Dominion Bosses drop all the others • Any level of token can drop from any boss, but the higher difficulty the boss the higher the chance of higher level tokens dropping • Totems bonuses have been re-priced, and Isolation's Bonus has been removed. Isolation 0%, Deficiency and Avarice 5%, Disease and Lament 10%, Impermanence 20%. Still 50% for all of them, still HATED. • All existing Shiny items have been lifted to ++ (max) Quality by default • The Totem of Avarice now triples red affix weight and doubles pink. • Raging Bulls spawn at night, gl vesterers. • Any dungeon may now count as a speedrun attempt, but the timer will only appear outside of trials with a Stopwatch. • Trials allow consumables, more officially now • Trial Keys cost 300 score down from 500 • Fury and Empowered are flat damage per second now (250 / 500 / 1000 / 2000 / 4000 by level), more ways to alter them will come in the future though. • Barrier holds a fifth of your max health, down from half - and an armor trait raises it back up, to as much as 70% if you commit to it. • Damage number visuals were retuned to be a bit more legible as they rest/die • Dusts work in trial dungeons. • Proc stat boosts clear when you change worlds • Some certain accidentally overpowered food items were nerfed. • "When hit" procs fire on damage taken - any damage. A laser, a sweep, a bleed tick, a hazard tile, a health cost you paid yourself. They used to only notice projectiles and blasts. • Aim assist ignores the Reaper's chains and bomb markers. • The mobile safety button flow was improved to make escaping more consistent • Gem dust counts toward the daily gem-consume task, since that is what a crushed gem becomes. • The walk-over item tooltip waits two seconds before popping. • I noticed juggernaut was actually missing 5 extra vit it was supposed to have, so i added that too. get out there juggernauts. Fixes • Night mountains enemies drop all of their correct loot. • Mobile: the Settings Cog now correctly opens the menu hub, • A controller pass over every surface added since July • Fixed the black screen after escaping into a crowded Tavern (More common on Mobile) • Fixed proc projectiles ignoring their own angle offset, • Fixed a revive handing your own gear back as foreign. • Fixed iPhone Promotion for actual FPS above 60 • Fixed logins taking whole seconds on accounts whose characters had empty essence or gem-storage columns. • Closed an Isolation laundering route you naughty naughty gamers • Fixed the controller nav marker being clamped wrong and scaled twice on many locations. • So much more. I'll probably update this list multiple times after the update goes live as people remind me how bad at documenting things I am. See you in the Dominion, typ & Dano Appendix: Every Item That Moved When you re-price every item in the game, they all fall into a new line. 325 items, 856 changes. It felt silly to bury that in "Changes" above, so here they are, where a reasonable person has already stopped reading. AI Disclosure: I did use an AI to make this list, as well as the tooling for the IP Calculator and sweeps across the board. Unfortunately it is really good at doing the man-power of many more men than I am man, man. Obviously we'll never use AI for anything generative or creative-replacing though!
