This is a puzzle game. And a thinking game. And a bit of both at the same time. It presents itself as a simple line puzzle idea, which expands quite a lot during the playthrough: new rules get added and taught to you, sometimes in ways you never expect; new environments expand ways you can interact with puzzles, forcing you to find solutions to what looks impossible at first (or even second) glance. The process of...

Overall I like the game and have played it a lot. The problem is when it tries to ramp up difficulty, it does it in cheap and frustrating ways instead of clever and interesting. It does things like time limits, making things hard to control, and making things hard to see.

The Witness is mentally stimulating and aggravating at the same time. Like Sudoku, but more challenging!! I love this game!

“It will be something wonderful. Something terrifying. Something awe-full.” The Witness is certainly clever. But, for me, never quite awe-full. I could spend hours listing its shortcomings, but The Looker has already exposed them so brilliantly that there is little left for me to add. I would still recommend completing both games. Together, they make for a fascinating lesson in video game design.

context: probably 20 hours of actual gameplay, ~500 puzzles solved, ~70 environmental puzzles found, didn't complete any obelisks because they were a little too esoteric for me to figure out naturally puzzles. lots and lots of puzzles. easy puzzles that teach the rules. hard puzzles that test your knowledge of the rules. puzzles that combine various rules. puzzles that throw a wrench in your usual approach and...

I really enjoyed witnessing this game. The puzzles' rules are really creative and fun to learn, and the game teaches them to you through an amazing game design. The Environment is artistically pleasant to look at. Being able to solve a puzzle you couldn't before is really rewarding. Also for some reason I really enjoyed the doors that open from one side only, the side that is accessible after you complete that...

My favorite thing about The Witness is that every single positive thing someone says about it is 100% correct. Yet at the same time, every single negative thing someone says about it is also 100% correct.

this game is stupidly hard that makes you want to scream. the puzzles are so hard the walkthroughs don't make sense. If you want to humble yourself or your friends its perfect

I love this game. The art is very well done and I love the way the you have multiple parts of the islands. The puzzles get more and more challenging the further you play which also makes the game playable for the entire time. I love this so much.
