This was a great game! I'd give it 4.75 stars. It was everything you would want in an indie top-down RPG. It wasn't difficult, but it was quite fun and entertaining. The mechanics of the different abilities was good. The mixing between different archetypes was very fluid. Also, it didn't railroad you. A well-made RPG with a decent story. You'll play for hours without even realizing it. :) It takes about 20 hours to finish the whole game.

It's a nice little time killer. Not a super deep riveting story, but simple & enjoyable old school experience. Somewhere between Ultima 7 & Diablo I.

In a nutshell, Eschalon is a standard 2D single-character fantasy western RPG. ("western RPG" here means "opposite of JRPG") Eschalon is solid. It's not exemplary, it's not bad.
