An old rogue-like classic. And a treasured favorite of mine. I used to watch my mom play this for hours until I was old enough to play it myself. Once you get it working with fan made patches and adjustments, the game runs overall well on modern hardware. The biggest issue I experienced with Darkstone, if you tab out and tab back in, the games resolution may get miffed up. A simple exit and reload will address the problem - given the game gives you the luxury to save at anytime, this hardly poses a problem (just don't forget to save!). The quest system is...

Unplayable. cannot change resolution, cannot map key bindings, cannot read any text or HUD values. Terrible terrible waste of money even if it is 1 dollar.

Not just a classic for nostalgia's sake, but genuinely a good game. Multiplayer over LAN is easy to set up, too, so great for family gaming nights. Easily worth the low price.

i like very much the game but i play the game before in windows but is asking me to install the directx i have the direct 12 it dont reconice it it says the i dont have any directx in the computer

I play old games. I cant think of any where you cant look around with the mouse at least SOMEHOW Forget gameplay, 100% of your brain will be devoted to moving and adjusting the camera. I recently came to the conclusion that i dont like games with TANK controls, this is worse. This is worse. Also outfits dont change your characters apperance so its like a video game that isnt one

Before you buy Darkstone, be aware that this game is over decade old. The graphics, is, well, not pretty. The gameplay is pretty fun, though, and if you are into Diablo-esque RPGs you may want to give it a try. To those who are worried if Darkstone will run on their modern systems, it works perfectly on my Windows 7 without any readily apparent bugs or visual glitches. Though naturally, I can’t vouch it will work...
