DONT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO EA fyi, i purchased way before the buyout thinking they wOuld fix the issues *other* copies of the game had, but of courSe they didn't. additionally, this collection is missing stuff like the ikea pack. also the game is twenty years old and they Aren't adding anything else to it -- it should've Been less than half the listed price. Sims 2 is peak but there are so many otherrrrr platformsssss...

So far.... 24 hours in. It is a learning curve if you are used to the more simplistic gameplay of Sims 3 Pets or Sims 4, but the mechanics are much more lively and fun than the previously mentioned. I played the Sims 3 Pets growing up and always heard Sims 2 was considered the one that was "made with love" before Sims became the modern day cash cow. My only complaint is the fact that this game crashed like... 4-5...

It runs well for me: basically zero crashes in the one and a half years I've had this version, no lag, no graphical issues. You might like a mod to improve the Create-A-Sim view - definitely if you have a widescreen monitor - otherwise the UI covers part of the character model. A brilliant story generator guided by you: make it cosy, make it chaotic; delve into the lore or create your own dynasty; micro-manage...

My first experience of The Sims 2 was back in 2005, I got it around the time it released on the PS2. My parents surprised me with it and I was so excited.
