I don't typically play CYOA games, but once upon a time, I stumbled on the web version of this game. I'm giving this one a thumbs up even though I don't think I could play it again for personal reasons, but it's just objectively a really well done game, and I quite enjoyed playing most of it and finished it in about a day. The author of this novel, Kevin Gold, is a professor at Boston University who teaches about computing and AI, and it shows in the writing. Every decision you make is impactful, consequential, and nuanced. This game will have you questioning your own beliefs. It will make you feel. Choice of Robots is simply top notch sci-fi and I would recommend this to anyone interested in sci-fi about artificial intelligence.

Just finished my first playthrough. I expected this to be similar to the " Choose Your Own Adventure" books that I loved from my school library where you're given 2-3 options and most choices ended in you dying. I'm astounded by the number of branching options, each DRASTICALLY changing the outcome for your character, your robot companion, your friends(or enemies), and even the fate of billions of people. Wow. That was such an unexpectedly wonderful experience. As this is a CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure), your experience may vary, but, I say with little hesitation that my own experience with the story is the most meaningful experience I've had with a game - ever. Although wonderful in their own right, choice oriented games like The Walking Dead and Mass Effect don't even come close to what this game...

I have been in multiple psychology and sociology classes. I have discussed multiple types of technologies and sciences of questionable morality, agreeing with them. Things like the use of robots in war, and the creation of human AI. Never have I questioned my morals, in the face of friends, family, colleagues, anyone. This game has actually made me question myself. I love it.
