I remember when this game came out it was also a big tech demo for the new GeForce 3 series, then the reviews said it was indeed a beautiful game, but the gameplay was mid. After 25 years I finally played it and I can say they were right. Still decently fun, though.

Day 1 of Unplayed Backlog I couldn't have started this off with more a bang if I tried. The story cutscene just starts off with some SeaPunk aesthetic and an overloaded story dump with weird sound effects going crazy in the background during the narration. Beautiful game, even though the graphics are getting dated. Lots of fun. Terrible voice acting. Okay plot. Plays mostly like a space shooter, under water.

All GOG and Steam players are given the same cd-key breaking the ability to play multiplayer unless you change it in game to another legit retail cd-key (random strings don't work).

A good way to describe this game, would be a Post-Apocalyptic-Underwater-Minisub-Shooter-Noire. The length of this description is appropriate given the ceaseless exposition and shoe-horning of story and game world terms into the script. The game is not without charm though. World of Aqua. Full of pirate scum, bionts, crawles and squids. Good targets for mercenary Emerald "Dead Eye" Flint. Fights are fast and funny. Nice stylization in green color and obviously completely awesome looking undersea environment. Attempt for new conversation system did not fare best but it's still remarkable. very good game from old school times there was a issue with mouse controls but there is a un-official patch that solves all the issues and makes the game 100% playable well worth giving it a go patch can be found here https://cookieplmonster.github.io/mods/aquanox/#silentpatch dead simple to do just download and unzip the archive and copy paste the files into the aquanox directory and load the game and have fun...
