The Battle for Sector 219 is an abstract strategy card game where two players field a sci-fi army battling a rival race for control of a world's capital city. The game is easy to learn and quick to play but has a depth of strategy usually found only in games that takes much longer to play.

1.2.0 - Steam Notifications, Easy AI

Version 1.2 went live today with a couple of major changes: Steam Notifications and an easy AI setting. When you start the game next time (or for the first time) Steam will ask you to enable notifications and if you allow these you will be notified every time someone takes a turn in online matches. We know the current interface is a bit lacking in keeping track of open and on-going matches and we are working on an improved UI as well but that will come in a later update. For now this should enable you to have a few matches on the go at any time and take new turns whenever it suits you. If you leave the match open any new turns will show up automatically so still fine to play out a match in one sitting if both players are online too.

The new easy AI should help new players understand the game a bit better without being too aggressive, but it will still go for your base if it sees an opportunity so make sure you keep the spaces next to your own base free and try to occupy the spaces next to the city as often as you can to threaten the AI. For experiences players we're also working on a hard AI as the normal one can be a bit formulaic at the moment. Enjoy and let us know of any bugs or suggestions in the comments!

This is a quick-playing little strategy game of card positioning. I don't know if physical copies exist yet, but it's clearly intended to be. Players have the same deck (different art) and take turns playing 2 cards each. Cards will destroy an opponent's card if a previously-played card can support it (artillery being an exception here). This is a really fun little strategy card game. Each game takes 5-10 minutes to play and you can pick up the mechanics after a couple of goes (just make sure to read the short online guide first).
