A visual novel written by someone with a poor grasp of the English language. (And frankly, that's the vibe I get from most of the positive reviews, as well.) I'd be more lenient with the writing if the game originally had a non-English release that seemed competent and the developers were looking to get feedback and polish the English translation, but neither is the case here. You have to make the right choices before the final showdown, or the one choice to arrest the killer is not present, leading you to only bad endings without knowing why. Also, many spelling errors, some are clearly indicating that no one reread it before releasing. A Detective's Novel suffers from a lack of story coherency, tedious gameplay, and poor writing. A dialogue-heavy adventure depends on having a compelling narrative, which this game lacks, leaving its pitfalls too prevalent to be overlooked. Interesting game. I liked the sound track, jazzy ragtime blues type of music. Story was different. Characters were funny and the dialogue was very interesting. At one time, I think he referenced the movie "I know what you did last summer." Which was strange cause this game takes place in 1945. LOL. But overall not to bad for a visual detective novel.
