CompareCivil War: 1861 covers the opening battles of the American Civil War. The game covers both the small and large actions of that momentous year, starting with the battle at ‘Big Bethel’, on to the comparatively vast engagements at ‘Bull Run’ and ‘Wilson’s Creek’.

This update improves how generals, artillery and shared formations behave during battle. • Isolated generals now move towards safety when enemy troops close in. • Units can change formation while sharing a hex with an unattached general or artillery battery. • Artillery now attaches to infantry correctly, and reinforcement generals retain their leadership abilities.

This is a comparative between this game and Sierra's Civil War – Generals to highlight some of the shortfalls for the game. From what I can tell, both games are: - Historically accurate - Contains levels of difficulty, although Sierra's Civil War has more difficulty levels - Turned Base - Hexadecimal movements There the similarities end in my opinion. Super basic if you are looking for a real civil war game, I would pick up ultiamte general cival war instead.

During my childhood I remember playing an old game demo called "Panzer General", I was not a fan of the turn based games in hex maps, but the game was cool and I enjoyed it for a bit, then never played that genre again (which is a big lack for me). This game is good, but short. Basic. If you like civil wars, then you have to play with this. I think the price is expensive, but you can get all Civil War games in a bundle. You can complete it very easy, and you can get all achievements.

Keeps Crashing ! Just when you start to get into it , it crashes ... Ryzen 9 5900X /RTX4080 Super. I guess its because of the Nov. 1st update !

As the title states, deals with the opening year of the American Civil War. Gameplay is as most HexWars games. Decent array of scenarios. If you are comfortable with HexWars style, recommended.

Really fun and enjoyable. It’s simple, smooth, and entertaining, with great gameplay and good vibes all around. Addictive and satisfying, I keep coming back for more. Overall, a solid game that’s fun, relaxing, and has just the right amount of challenge.
