Textbook case of a game with potential but not enough polish to make it enjoyable. Combat feels like I am just lining up the mouse and sometimes my clicks register as "damage". Looking for an hour long, ultra stylized FPS with interesting level design but stiff controls ? Look no further. Mostly style, not much substance, but I'm ok with that. If you're down for a little experiment 'how would fpp shooter look with CGA-like graphics', give it a try, it's cheap after all :) Otherwise, not much point in bothering, I guess.

I feel almost bad giving this game a bad review, but the most generous thing to say is that Midnight Ultra is not finished. The textures are barely mapped making the maps disorienting. The gunplay is rough, and the enemy pathfinding AI is atrocious. Even the game's options menu seems to not contain any options. There's a great game here, if only it had a little more time to be made.

Absolutely loved the idea of Midnight Ultra when I saw it. It kind of looked like what would happen if Killer 7 met Duke Nukem with a hazy, phasing artwork style wrapping it up. The unfortunate problem though is that ideas don't hit full-tilt unless execution is backing 'em up. I'm not sure i 'get' Midnight Ultra. Is it style over substance? Is it hipster? Is it a masterpeice? Maybe it's none of those things. All I know is that after about 5 minutes my eyes and ears hurt. Neat little find. The gunplay is decent and most of the sound design is on point, with the exception of magic projectiles. Reminded me a lot of Mandy (Amongst other occult films).

This won't keep your attention for long and doesn't really seem worth replaying, but the main campaign and devil's path are both worth at least one playthrough. The texture work is very minimal so mess around with the filters a bit and find one that works for you. Good fun while it lasts but I don't think I'll be back.

Guns feel like they shoot air, melee rarely connects. lost interest once I got past the visuals. Looks pretty, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, there is nothing in the gameplay that makes you wanna stay, which is kinda the whole point of a videogame.
