Freakpocalypse: Episode 2 - One Year Update
2026-09-03Hey gang, We wanted to give you all an update on where things currently are with Freakpocalypse: Episode 2 after a year of development. After years of languishing in development hell due to budget issues and laying off our developers, we’ve been back in the development saddle for a year now. Our current developer has been working tirelessly on the game to ensure it sees the light of day. Nearly all of the main quests for the game have now been implemented, and she’ll be switching gears to work on the side quests and bonus content soon after. We still need to complete animations, VO, ports, localization, QA testing, etc. All this while Explosm continues working on our usual comics, animations, and more that keep the lights on.

We don’t want to cut any corners on Episode 2, so we’re currently targeting an early 2027 release if all goes according to plan. (We didn't want to overshadow GTA 6) Here’s some delicious previews of what’s currently in the game: The dev team has already been providing exclusive monthly updates to our Kickstarter backers for the past year, but we hope this clears up some questions you may have had about where Episode 2’s release stands. We’ll make an announcement here when we have more updates. We’re so excited for you to see what direction we’re taking Coop and company in Episode 2.
