Honestly, I would never assume that pack of thirty years old executables will still work, especially under Proton, but... Dosbox does it job, so you can actually play all of these. No point talking about actual games. It is Commander Keen, duh... Ancient platformer largely overshadowed by fact, that same studio released Wolf 3D and subsequently DOOM and Quake....

I decided to check this game out because I was curious about Id Software's roots following my obsession with their Doom games. Now don't get me wrong, Commander Keen is really cool and that early 90s aesthetic could not be replicated today. The controls are simple, the graphics quaint, and I definitely see the appeal as a fan of platformers. Sadly, this pack doesn't actually include all Commander Keen games...

It should be called the "Incomplete Pack" because it's definitely NOT complete. But it's dirt cheap on sale, and worth it for the nostalgia if you played it when you were younger.

Note: I haven't played this since the late 90s and am very rusty at it, but I still think I can review it fairly. This keen pack brings back memories from the old days, that much is true. However, in my recent playthrough, the nostalgia goggles needed ripping off. These games are actually quite hard. This doesn't take away from the fun they give at all. Sure, the lack of music in the first three can leave it...

I only played Commander Keen 4 and 5. Having originally played Keen 4 and 6, they were the main ones that interested me. In the case of Keen 4, it was an enjoyable trip down memory lane while Keen 5 provided a new experience. Too bad Keen 6 is not included. The Commander Keen games are pioneers of smooth scrolling 2D platformers on the PC and for this reason alone this game is recommended.

A game I've loved and played since the 90s, and it still holds up as a great platformer even now. There's a timeless charm to it that a lot of newer games chase and rarely catch. That said, I'd love to see Microsoft/id give it the same treatment other classic DOS games have gotten — a proper fresh remake with modern visuals while keeping the original gameplay and level design intact. for 5 dollars you get 4 fun platformers that all take a few hours to beat and each are still fun to play after beating it and this game pack is on sale like all the time so most of the time its like 2 dollars and not 5 so imp this is a great deal
